In 1982, CAMComp’s journey began as a vision to break away from conventional insurance offerings that failed to address the unique needs of Michigan’s commercial construction industry. Crafted by industry professionals for industry professionals, CAMComp is governed by a member-led board of trustees and is overseen by the State of Michigan Workers' Compensation Agency. Today, we proudly serve thousands of members as the state’s leading self-insured workers’ comp program. 

Along with a group coverage plan centered around the needs of our members, we foster a community where safety is paramount and unnecessary claims are minimized, keeping premiums lower for everyone. 

To support the success and safety of our members, CAMComp goes beyond mere insurance. We use a premium credit model to strategically invest the collective premiums, and at the end of each year, we assess the group’s claims paid out and the premiums paid in. If the premiums exceed the claims, the premium is credited back to the members’ accounts and placed toward the next year.
